We are just a few months away from the seventh annual Carnegie Conference! If you haven’t been before, here are the top reasons why this is the must-attend marketing conference for higher education professionals.
1. Speakers
It has been the founding philosophy for the Carnegie Conference to recruit speakers who are experts working in industries outside of higher education. There are so many great opportunities throughout the year to attend higher ed–specific conferences and to hear from our colleagues on a variety of important topics. But we are an insular bunch, and perspectives from thought leaders outside of our industry can be refreshing and offer a wealth of knowledge.
There are also endless opportunities to attend big marketing conferences that run across industries (think MarTech, MozCon, Inbound, SMSX, and so many more), and these conferences are filled with presenters who have great expertise and marketing prowess. But higher ed attendance is rare, and the content is not geared toward our unique industry. So, the premise for the Carnegie Conference began with taking these subject matter experts speaking at top national marketing conferences and bringing them to present to a higher ed–only audience. This way we would get their industry expertise tailored through a higher ed lens—the best of both worlds. And as such, the Carnegie Conference was born almost seven years ago.
2. Content
The content for the conference explores the critical connection between marketing strategy and recruitment. Industry-leading experts will take you through topics such as branding, search engine marketing, social media, e-mail marketing, landing page and conversion optimization, and more! You’ll enjoy a nice blend of key note speakers mixed in with breakout sessions that will leave you with plenty of big-picture inspiration coupled with actionable take-aways you can put into practice.
3. Conference size
The Carnegie Conference is small enough to feel extremely personal but large enough to have meaningful networking opportunities and connections with your higher ed peers. Our audience is filled with admission and marketing offices representing every area of campus: traditional undergrad, grad, transfer, international, online, non-traditional, continuing education, and more.
4. Location
It is well worth the mention that this conference happens every year at Disney World. For some, that might be reason enough to attend, especially if you are in a cold winter state. Disney in January? Sign me up!
5. Fun
While the conference is a fast one and a half days packed with a full agenda, we make sure to have some fun too. From the pre-conference meet-and-greet social, to lunch outside under the sun, to dinner at Epcot with an outdoor dessert bar on a private patio watching the Illuminations light show, we promise to deliver the right balance of learning, inspiration, and fun.
6. Affordability
The conference is reasonable priced, and unlike most conferences, it includes all your meals. (And for those who have attended before, there are annual food traditions and favorites—what would the Carnegie Conference be without a hot pretzel break?)
Register now until November 1, 2017, for $695. It’s $795 thereafter, so why not take advantage and save $100 while you can!
The Carnegie Conference is the conference I look most forward to every year. Okay, I am a little biased…but each and every year I am blown away by the speakers, their depth of knowledge, and how much I learn that I can apply to my own work. For me that is the definition of a great conference! I hope to see you in Disney in January at the 2018 #CarnegieConf!
